Stellenbosch, South Africa- September 9, 2022 – Rivulet Artisan Pecan Liqueur is pleased to announce that it has been awarded the prestigious Double Gold Medal at the Michelangelo International Wine & Spirits Awards, which recently took place in August 2022 in Stellenbosch, South Africa.  The Michelangelo International Wine & Spirits Awards was established in 1997 to offer South African producers the opportunity of having their wines and spirits adjudicated locally by a highly experienced and respected panel of professionals from around the globe.  Since 2003 the competition has received an increasing number of entries from international wine and spirit producers.  2003 marked the start of a new era for the competition when the Michelangelo International Wine Awards moved to Stellenbosch, the main wine producing area of South Africa!  Now in its 26th year, the Michelangelo International Wine & Spirits Awards have become one of the world’s top competitions!

Now, in its 26th year and Africa’s largest wine and spirits competition, Michelangelo remains unique in Africa, in that all judges are hand-picked wine and spirit experts, hailing from five different continents.  Since the start of the competition in 1997, more than 263 individual judges from 47 countries have served on the panels.  All entries are judged blind by panels of 5 judges, using the 100-point internationally recognized OIV judging system.  Only one-third of entrants receive a medal, consisting of Platinum (96 + points), Double Gold (93-95 points), Gold (89-92 points), and Silver (86-88 points).  No bronze medals are awarded.

Many consumers have commented that Rivulet is the finest, most authentic and luxurious nut liqueur they have tasted.  Rivulet is fortunate enough to have been awarded its first Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2014.  Since then, Rivulet has won over 110 prestigious medals around the world, including Double Gold, Triple Gold, Double Platinum, and Consumers’ Choice awards.  On December 8, 2021, Rivulet was featured on NBC’s The Today Show where host Al Roker declared, “This is a game changer…like pecan pie in a glass!”
