Rivulet™ Artisan Pecan Liqueur Takes Home Gold Medal And 90 Point Rating At Beverage Testing Institute

Chicago, Illinois – October 10, 2014 – Rivulet Artisan Pecan Liqueur is pleased to announce it has taken home a prestigious GOLD Medal and 90 Point Rating (Exceptional) at the Beverage Testing Institute’s 2014 Spirits Competition.  Rivulet was part of the BTI’s September Tasting, which concentrated on the globally diverse and burgeoning Liqueur category.

The Beverage Testing Institute was founded in 1981, with the objective of producing fair and impartial wine reviews for consumers.  Since then, the BTI has become arguably the most complete and objective resource for discerning consumers and trade associates alike.  The BTI was one of the first industry evaluative services to provide comparative numerical scores and ratings for Spirits products.  While wine critics have assigned stars, points, and medals to wines and vintages for years, the BTI was the first major panel to critically evaluate spirits with an objective eye toward quality.  Rivulet receives its Gold Medal and 90 Point Exceptional rating from among the broadest array of high quality products in the BTI’s history.

“We are very pleased that Rivulet was awarded a gold medal and 90 point rating as part of this rigorous and thorough tasting process,” said James B. Marshall, the managing director of C88 Holdings, LLC, the producer of Rivulet Artisan Pecan Liqueur.  “We are obviously quite proud of our American quality story, and consumers around the world will be able to make Rivulet part of their luxury spirits repertoire.”

Jerald O’Kennard, director of the Beverage Testing Institute, noted that, ”All of our reviews, including over 30,000 of our most recent reviews, plus hundreds of articles, now appear on our website, tastings.com.  Leading producers and marketers participate in BTI’s reviews and competitions because they recognize the Institute’s ability to identify and describe the best products and get that information out to consumers,” he said.

About the Beverage Testing Institute Process

The Beverage Testing Institute uses a dedicated testing lab in Chicago, Illinois.  This room was specially designed to minimize external factors and maximize our panelists’ concentration.  Tasting at the same time of day practically every weekday morning, under the same ideal conditions, is far better than working out of a suitcase or at a producer’s facility.  The BTI tastes only 25-30 wines, 25-35 beers, or 12-18 spirits per day to prevent palate fatigue.  Tasting more than these amounts in a single day, as most competitions and many magazines do, negatively effects the accuracy and quality of alcoholic beverage evaluations.  The BTI relies heavily on highly experienced, professional guest tasters who are either retailers, restaurateurs, or prominent writers that are especially knowledgeable about the beverage category being reviewed.  All panelists are rigorously screened and audited and then trained in the BTI’s proprietary blind tasting methodology.  BTI’s director, Jerald O’Kennard, moderates the panels.
