VON Magazine: The Murky World of QoS [PDF Download]
Quality of Service technologies and would-be standards keep appearing "...Just about every new IP service is a real-time service, so there are undoubtedly some diminishing returns; although prioritization schemes help, they can't gaurantee that simultaenous real-time flows wont interfere with each other. This is why Rivulet (www.rivulet.com) developed their line of Internet Endpoint Systems (IES)..."

VON Magazine's Focus Newsletter: Elephants in the local loop--Part Two. [PDF Download]
"Rivulet's technology was developed as an IP QoS solution and has since been deployed in the medical industry, moving 30Mb real-time video flows over a customer's existing IP network - without packet loss. That was a demanding QoS task and in order to meet the performance target the company developed a technology known as Rivulet Queuing (RQ) and now it is being marketed to service providers."

Below are two articles written by NetForecast about Rivulet Technology. NetForecast develops customized analytic models to determine the business value of new technologies.

Real-time Applications on IP Networks: Overcoming Economic Constraints on Quality of Service
In this paper we look at the behavior of data and voice/video traffic on an IP network, and examine the tradeoff between connection quality and link utilization. We then assess a new technology, Rivulet Queuing, which overcomes the economic barrier by enabling high utilization and very high quality connections in a standard IP network environment. Lastly we present two examples illustrating the value this new technology delivers.

Effect of Rivulet Based Traffic on Existing Data
We find in this study that the introduction of either Rivulet or low latency QoS has an impact on the underlying best effort traffic. We see through the simulation results that the Rivulet impact is significantly less than the impact of QoS, because of the even bandwidth utilization Rivulet provides. While packet loss for QoS increases with utilization, Rivulet is able to carry traffic streams with almost no loss or jitter across converged networks, with only minimal impact to existing best effort traffic.
